Your home Wi-Fi and internet is important. That’s why we’re working hard to bring you the best internet experience possible – so you can surf the web, stream your favorite shows, download the latest music, monitor your home from afar and more. We’re sharing our favorite Wi-Fi tips and tricks – so you get high-performing internet at home always.

Location, location, location: Where you put your router or wireless gateway matters. Here are a few tips for finding the best location for your home internet hub:

  • Find a spot that is central to where you use your devices and is clear of objects that could potentially interfere with signal strength, such as thick walls and water sources (stay away from fish tanks!).
  • Keep it away from other electronics like the television or microwave, these too can impact Wi-Fi signal strength.

Reboot from time to time: Your equipment is like a computer, it needs a restart every once in a while. Here are some good times to do so:

  • Your equipment runs best with the latest software. Occasionally it will perform a restart upgrade on its own.
  • If you’ve made changes to your internet service or you’re experience issues, reboot your Gateway when it’s convenient for you on My Account for iOS or Android or accessible on X1.

Never lose your Wi-Fi name and password: Who can remember all their passwords?. We created new ways for you to find your Wi-Fi network name and password:

  • The voice remote has been a game changer. Now, you can simply speak into the remote and ask, “what’s my Wi-Fi password” and your details will appear on the screen.
  • You can also keep track of your home Wi-Fi network information through the My Account app, where you can even share it with friends directly through the app.

Connect on the go: We also want to help you stay connected when you’re on the move. Xfinity customers have access to over 16 million Wi-Fi hotspots across the country in locations like airports, shopping centers, train stations and more. Download the Xfinity Wi-Fi app for Android or iOS to get started!
