Today I want to share a tip that may enable you to fix an issue you’re having with your X1 TV box with the click of a button. Most of the time, all your TV box needs is a restart. Equipment like computers, mobile devices, and our TV boxes often run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A restart for any of these devices can eliminate some errors, sluggishness, and strange behavior so they work perfectly when you want to use them.
Here’s how it works. Press the A button on your XFINITY remote control to bring up the Help Menu. The first option is Restart. Press OK on the remote then confirm by selecting Restart and OK again. Your box will begin to reset. This should take just a few minutes.
You can also do this remotely using our My Account app. So if you’re at work and the kids call to say something’s not right with the TV, you can Restart the device from wherever you are. Open up the app, select TV from the main Menu, select the box that’s giving you trouble, and tap Restart this Device.
But keep this in mind before you try this at home: restarting the device will interrupt any recordings so pick a time when you’re not recording your favorite show. And make sure your cables are tightly secured at your wall outlet and on the TV box before you restart.
